Mental Health Task Force

Promoting Mental Wellness and Reducing Stigma

The Mental Health Task Force (MHTF) is a core committee of MACY, formed to address the growing need for youth mental health support and awareness in the Marshfield community. The task force is made up of school professionals, mental health providers, youth representatives, and community members who are committed to removing barriers, reducing stigma, and promoting wellness.

Goals of the Mental Health Task Force

  • Reduce stigma associated with mental illness and promote help-seeking behaviors.
  • Increase public awareness and knowledge about mental health.
  • Foster positive coping skills and social-emotional learning.
  • Strengthen suicide prevention efforts.
  • Promote access to timely, appropriate mental health services.

Signature Initiatives

  • Let’s Keep Talking Parent and Caregiver Series: A monthly event series co-hosted with the School District of Marshfield and the Everett Roehl Marshfield Public Library. Topics range from adolescent anxiety to social media use and substance use prevention. Events are held on the second Tuesday of each month from September to April and are open to all community members. Recordings are available on the library’s YouTube channel.
  • May Day Baskets for Mental Health: Each May, MHTF partners with students from MCLA to assemble and distribute over 400 handmade baskets throughout the community. Each basket contains mental health resources, fidgets, coloring pages, and uplifting messages designed to spread awareness and joy.
  • JB’s Green Ribbons of Hope – Mental Health Matters Campaign: This fall initiative includes a remembrance and awareness event held in partnership with local schools and the public library. Green ribbons, symbolic of mental health awareness, are displayed to honor those impacted by mental health challenges and to provide hope for those who may be struggling.
