MCLA

Marshfield & Columbus Leadership Alliance

Empowering Youth to Lead Positive Change

The Marshfield and Columbus Leadership Alliance (MCLA) is a student-led group that works to improve school climate, promote mental wellness, and reduce substance misuse through peer influence and leadership. Sponsored by MACY and supported by the School District of Marshfield and Columbus Catholic Schools, MCLA ensures that youth voice is central to all coalition efforts.

Purpose

To provide leadership opportunities for a diverse group of students and empower them to positively impact issues that affect their peers and community.

Ongoing Projects

  • Pour It Forward: Free hot cocoa in the winter and lemonade in the spring distributed by students with handwritten positive messages on the cups. This event promotes kindness and connection.
  • Ask a High Schooler Video Series: Designed to help middle school students navigate the transition to high school, this peer-to-peer resource builds confidence and community.
  • School Climate Campaigns: Kindness Week, Self-care activities, and T-shirt and other design contests to support mental health awareness.
  • Drug and Alcohol Facts Week: Held each March, MCLA students organize educational activities focused on substance use prevention and healthy decision-making.
  • Collaboration with MACY Committees: Students serve as active members of MACY's Mental Health and Drug Task Forces, helping shape campaigns and community outreach strategies.

MCLA is proof that when students lead, communities thrive.
