Drug Task Force

Working Together to Prevent Youth Substance Use

The MACY Drug Task Force is committed to reducing substance misuse among youth and creating a safer, healthier community. With representation from law enforcement, schools, healthcare, prevention professionals, parents, and youth, the task force implements multi-faceted strategies that address the root causes of substance use.

Priority Areas

  • Underage drinking prevention
  • Prescription medication misuse prevention
  • Youth vaping and nicotine prevention and use reduction
  • THC/Cannabis prevention
  • Delta-8 and Delta-10 THC awareness and community education
  • Illicit drug use education (e.g., heroin, marijuana, methamphetamine)

Programs and Campaigns

  • Drug Take Back Days: Coordinated with the Marshfield Police Department and the Wisconsin Department of Justice, these bi-annual events provide the community with a safe, responsible way to dispose of unused medications. Over 100 pounds of medications are typically collected per event.
  • Public Health Vending Machines: Located at accessible community hubs, these machines offer free NARCAN, fentanyl test strips, first aid kits, hygiene products, and other harm-reduction tools to residents and visitors.
  • Substance Use Prevention Education: At events such as the Central Wisconsin State Fair, the task force distributes hundreds of prevention kits containing educational materials, giveaways, and local resource information.
