Prescription Drug Taskforce
In July 2009, the coalition convened a group of key community leaders in the city of Marshfield to discuss the problem of prescription drug diversion and related issues. Out of this meeting, MACY's Prescription Drug Task Force was formed.
Through the Task Force, efforts are underway to reduce and prevent prescription drug abuse among youth, not only within the Marshfield area, but throughout Central and Northern Wisconsin. Key partners in this initiative are the Marshfield Police Department – which represents the Central Wisconsin Drug Task Force, Security Health Plan and Marshfield Clinic.
Current projects of the Task Force include the following:
- Supporting the use of the permanent prescription drug drop-off site at the Marshfield Police Department, which is available 24/7
- Participating in the National Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Take-Back Events
- Supporting the use of the Ident-A-Drug software for 40 law enforcement agencies
- Developing a comprehensive prescription drug media campaign
- Working to unite health care organizations, law enforcement and community coalitions to tackle prescription drug diversion within Wisconsin
